VETPRO
The VETPRO project is an exciting new project managed by ACER which aims to support colleges in the East of England to build links with providers of training and vocational education in mainland Europe. As part of an overall strategy to support our member colleges to build strong partnerships in Europe towards the ambition of future collaboration, joint project working, sharing of best practice etc the project is ACER’s first practical step towards this goal.
The project, funded under the EU Leonardo Programme (and managed by ECORYS) enables tutors from colleges in the East of England to visit institutions in Denmark, Holland, Spain, Czech Republic, Finland and Sweden for up to a week to see how their European counterparts manage and deliver programmes across targeted vocational areas e.g. engineering, construction, agriculture, animal care, horticulture.
All expenses related to the visits are fully funded by the project and participants are recruited by the participating colleges based on their ability to maximise the benefits of their learning for their individual college, the relevance to their job role and their willingness to engage with the European agenda.
Current participating ACER member colleges are:
City College Norwich
College of West Anglia
Easton College
West Herts College
Herts Regional College
The project provides a fantastic opportunity for colleges to learn from European partners, to build partnerships for future collaboration and to provide once in a lifetime CPD opportunities for their staff teams. Chris Challender from the College of West Anglia comments that “the college has been overwhelmed with expressions of interest from their staff and see the VETPRO project as providing a fantastic development opportunity for key staff and the college. The College views the opportunities provided by Europe as being a key priority and the VETPRO project is an important part of our overall international engagement strategy”.
The project runs until March 2013.
The project is managed by Geoff Scaplehorn and Sheila Louth. For more information phone Sheila on 01480 409306 or email sheila.louth@acer.ac.uk.
