Supporting your employees with ESOL needs: A guide for managers in health & social care
This pack is designed to help you understand
the ESOL needs of your employees and provides information about the support and training
available for both you and your staff. Support with ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) is a key strand within ACER’s regional ESF-funded Stepping-stones project which develops literacy, language and numeracy
programmes for people in work.
Written for managers and supervisors in the health and
social care sector the guide has five sections that explore key practical issues in understanding ESOL and
providing workplace support. These sections can be downloaded as PDFs by clicking on the relevant links below:

Promotional posters
These posters are designed to be industry specific, with targetted images and text relevant to each sector. To download a PDF sample, simply right-click on the relevant link and choose 'save target as'. To customise to your own organisation, providers can obtain a Word version of the posters and change the text in the text box to the name of your designated Stepping-stones contact and fill in the relevant contact details. You can also add your organisation's logo as a partner into the bottom left of the poster, simply replace the black text box with your logo (set to the same height).
Shopping voucher promotion leaflets
As part of the promotional campaign for Stepping-stones, funding is available for successful completers of the programme to be rewarded with £20 worth of shopping vouchers. To help providers promote this, we have designed customisable A5 leaflet templates for providers to download. To download a PDF sample, simply right-click on the link below and choose 'save target as'. To customise to your own organisation, providers can obtain a Word version of the vouchers and change the text in the text box to the name of your designated Stepping-stones contact and fill in the relevant contact details. You can also add your organisation's logo as a partner into the bottom right of each leaflet, simply replace the black text box with your logo (set to the same height - this is optional on the promotional leaflets). NB: There are 2 leaflets per page, so any customisation will need to be made to both leaflets on the page.
