Employee Support in Skills – Apprenticeship Services
ACER is project managing the Employee Support in Skills programme on behalf of the lead, Northampton College.
The aim of the programme is to increase the number of people, both employed and unemployed, entering apprenticeships at all levels and will be working with Jobcentre Plus to identify suitable unemployed people who would benefit from support into an apprenticeship.
This programme provides initial support for SME employers in the SEMLEP area through an advice helpline and Training Needs Analysis. It also provides support for individuals (aged over 16 and not in training) through regulated and non-regulated delivery pre-apprenticeship training in order to increase their chances of success. This may vary in duration from a half day to 4 weeks or more. It can comprise an individual qualification or unit or a number of interventions brought together in one programme.

The project Board comprises of representatives from SEMLEP, Jobcentre Plus, provider networks and delivery partners and meets once a quarter. If anyone is interested in joining the project Board please contact firstname.lastname@example.org .
The SEMLEP Velocity Growth Hub hosts the advice service where employers interested in taking on an apprentice can complete and submit an online form. The employer will then be guided through the process and pointed towards suitable apprenticeships /providers able to deliver the chosen course.
On Thursday 22nd February a Celebration event was held at Towcester Racecourse to showcase the impact of ESF-funded community projects in supporting our local communities and businesses, including the Northampton College led Employee Support in Skills – Apprenticeship Services.
