Equality and Diversity in the Classroom
A two-part Equality and Diversity Tool has been developed by Liz Pichon for EECETT. This tool is in two sections:
- Section 1 – Equality & Diversity Tool: is intended as a quality review for self/team to assess existing resources and practice.
- Section 2 – Checklist for Observing Good Practice: is intended as either a prompt for Initial Teacher Trainers/Line Managers carrying out lesson observations or as a prompt for lecturers to self-assess their current teaching and learning practice.
At the end of each section useful hyperlinks have been included for further resources and advice.

EECETT ACTION RESEARCH PROJECTS Enabling Access to Effective Mentor Support COMPOSITE REPORT
In 2008/09 the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) made available to each Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (CETT) an action research fund. This was to be used to commission and manage the delivery of a number of action research projects, focused on removing the barriers to access to effective mentoring in teacher education, directly from the sector.
This composite report outlines the background to the mentoring action research projects, the key themes that emerged across all the individual projects and the elements of good practice that can be extracted from the outcomes. Key findings from the individual projects are noted, as well as issues of research design and delivery arising from the completed projects. Click here to download research paper |
PCE Teacher Training: Scholarly Research Specialist Subject Project 2007
EECETT is pleased to be able to further promote the research products of the ITT team of one of its core partners, Colchester Institute. This publication is entirely in line with EECETT’s attitude to practitioner research which underpins all EECETT activities and, moreover, is evidence of the practical and philosophical position that the FE sector is capable of researching itself rather than always being the subject of research by others.

Access to Effective and Equitable Continuing Professional Development Opportunities for Teachers, Tutors and Trainers in the Lifelong Learning Sector
The CPD project was undertaken between January and March 2008 and surveyed a wide range of teacher, trainers, middle and senior managers across the LSC-funded Lifelong Learning sector. The aims of the project focussed upon informing the development of good practice by surveying the current status of CPD in the sector, as perceived by practitioners.

Access to EECETT
Early evaluations of EECETT’s introduction and dissemination of information strategy identified that it was failing to communicate with some parts of the LSC spectrum. To address the perceived gap, a specially targeted IAG consultancy was commissioned. This is a report of the resulting outreach project which identified and interacted with a range of those stakeholders who were apparently either missing or not engaging with EECETT dissemination activities.

Professionalising The Workforce
Professionalising the workforce is a recently completed report, carried out by EECETT on behalf of QIA. It incorporates a comparative analysis of 10 case studies illuminating the experience of teachers, learners and learning providers from across the full context of the learning and skills sector (including WBL; ACL; OLASS and VS representation) within the East of England. Case studies are drawn from the extensive EECETT partnership and include a variety of organisation size.

NUMERACY TEACHER TRAINING QUALIFICATION FEASIBILITY STUDY
Effective models of teaching and learning
This feasibility study was commissioned by the East of England Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (EECETT) and was funded by the National Research and Development Council (NRDC). The purpose of the study was to identify effective models for offering Level 5 Diplomas in Teaching Numeracy in the Lifelong Learning Sector in the eastern region. Historically it has been difficult to recruit enough trainee teachers to these qualifications in the eastern region and EECEET is keen to identify ways in which it can support developments in the future. This report summarises the findings of the study and offers recommendations for further work. It was one of nine regional reports funded by QIA in 2007-2008 under the Workforce Development strand of the Skills for Life Improvement Programme.
