The Diversity in Apprenticeships programme, managed by ACER in the East of England, was an action research-based programme designed to help learning providers encourage wider participation onto Apprenticeship programmes.

The focus of the programme was local interventions to address under-representation and aid promotion and awareness of apprenticeship programmes.

The project achieved:

• 319 learner starts against target of 150
• 7838 learner engagements against a target of 4546
• 4982  employer engagements against a target of 2307
• 41 case studies completed
• 4 newsletters issued
• 2 learners on an NVQ level 2
• 1 learner on an NVQ level 1
• 7 learners achieving non accredited learning and moving towards employment/ accredited learning
• Equality and Diversity leaflet produced
• 3 DVDs produced (2 to be launched at the end of April 2012
